JFK Museum

Day three of our Texas roadtrip was spent mostly in Dallas.
Our first stop was the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.
This museum is located in the building where Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shots that killed President Kennedy in 1963.
Photography isn't allowed in the museum itself, so mostly I just took pictures of the gift shop...
and the lines.
JFK is big business in Dallas. It's been fifty plus years since his assassination, but the museum is still packed and visitors should expect long waits to get in.
After the tour, we walked around Dealey Plaza itself.
There are X's on the street marking the location JFK's car during the fatal attack...
and the sidewalks are filled with conspiracy theorists.
This plaque is located near the grass knoll.
Everything is bigger in Texas, except, perhaps, the grassy knoll. It's much smaller and less impressive than any of us had expected.

Land of enchantment

Prior to last week, it had been twenty six years since I'd stepped foot in New Mexico. I'd forgotten how pretty it was, and I took lots of pictures, mostly from the car. Here are a few of my favorites.
March 2017.

Panoramic

Ryan takes the best...
panoramic iPhone photos.
Here are his pictures from the top of Capulin Volcano.
What an amazing view!
Good work, Ryan.
And don't forget to send me those pictures!

Capulin Vocano

As we were driving through New Mexico, we noticed several signs for Capulin Volcano National Monument. Seth started referring to it as Capuchin Volcano, and we all wondered if monkeys flew out when it erupted. Since it was only a few miles off our route, we decided to check it out.
I made everyone pose for pictures with the sign.
Aren't we cute?
The photo session came to an abrupt end...
when this one...
started throwing snowballs.
He's laughing...
but this means war.
The snowball fight went on...

and on.
We were having too much fun to leave, so we paid seven dollars and drove up the volcano. The views were amazing.
We parked in the lot and hiked up to the rim.
The snowball fight continued all the way up the volcano.
Halfway up. Can you see our minivan?
More climbing.
More snowballs.
 Ha!
Finally we reached the summit.
The views were spectacular...
and...
there were...
deer!
Despite the distinct lack of monkeys, I'm glad we stopped at Capulin Volcano.
