Third son

On Wednesday, Carol and I drove up to Greeley to have dinner with Nate and Jordan.

After dinner, we took a few pictures outside the restaurant.

Carol always refers to Ryan and James as her other sons. That means I get to claim Nate, right?

Carol visit!

Carol is back in the United States for a week of training.

On Tuesday night, the kids and I drove out to Southlands to hang out with her.

Ryan wore his kilt... 

and Carol shared some German beverages.

Passport

Since my best friend is now living overseas, I decided I should have a passport.  I applied for one today, and had my picture taken there. It's not as cute as Ryan's passport photo...

but I still like it. I am looking forward to showing it off when I visit Carol in Germany.

Last night, James, Seth and I went to a Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore concert at the Oriental Theater in northwest Denver.

 We sat at a table near the back of the room, which was fine.

Really. 

But eventually I worked my way up closer to the stage.  

That was better.

The man standing next to me had a big camera, and I was a little jealous.

Still, I think I did okay with my cell phone.

Last goodbye

Carol's last going away party took place at the Buxton house late Monday night and early Tuesday  morning. 

The festivities opened with an ice cream social.

Darcy couldn't take her eyes off James' sundae. 

Since it was a party, I let her have some.  

 Yoomp!

After that we gathered around the table to play Cards Against Humanity. 

Ryan was the big winner,

but a good time... 

was had by all.

Bon voyage, Carol. We already miss you!

Last supper

Carol and I went to Senor Rics on Monday night.

As usual, we ordered Margaritas and chips and queso.

What was not so usual was the company. We were joined by so many of Carol's friends. It was wonderful!

Carol's going away party

Right after Justify won the Triple Crown, Ryan, James and I drove to Carol's "Chief's" house for Carol's official going away party. 

There was cake...

 and karaoke.

I'm pretty sure this was "Let it Go." 

Someone (not me) gave James a beer...

That was a good party!

Post grad

After the graduation ceremony, we caught up with Ryan and admired his diploma.

Then we took some family pictures.

Ryan has two mommies. 

I wanted some pictures of Ryan with his friends so we tracked them down...

and did that, too. 

The light was better in the shade, so we redid a few of the family pictures.
