More doggie yoga

Ryan and I were walking down the hallway today, and we came upon Abbie lying in this funny position. Ryan looked at me and said, "More doggie yoga. You should take a picture and put it on your blog." So I did.

Camping aftermath

Seth's backyard camping trip was a big success. The kids have been up since the crack of dawn and are busy running and playing and breaking camp.
They've squeezed the air out of the air mattress...
and have hung the sleeping bags out to dry.
Now if I could just figure out how to get them to all go home!

Backyard camping

For reasons known only to him, Seth decided to set up a tent in the backyard. He put a wading pool inside the tent...
and invited some of the nieghbor kids to come spend the night in our yard.
They all accepted.
Does this look like a good idea?
Apparently Marcus, Ernesto, Ryan, James and Jozsh think it's a great idea.
Now that he sees what he's set in motion, Seth appears to be having second thoughts.
Abbie says, "Let me in the house. These boys are crazy!"

Fun with Aunt Colleen, Part two

(This post was written by Ryan. I didn't change any of the words, but I did fix the spelling and capitalization)

My crazy aunt (Colleen) went and bought me and James two items. My two were a water gun and a "Spinning Top Generator."So I got home and wanted to build it. We broke it. So we then fixed it (the next day) and then as a victory party I electrocuted myself.
P.S. Yes... that is me.

Fun with Aunt Colleen, Part one

We were discussing Eastern medicine, and Colleen mentioned she had some acupuncture needles in her car. James immediately offered up his arms so... In it goes!
Colleen told James that this particular needle placement would make him feel calm.
Sleepy eyes--maybe it's working!
Trying to explain the theory of acupuncture to an eight year old is always a challenge. James can't think about anything but the needle in his arm.

May snow

It snowed last night. It didn't snow a lot, but it's the middle of May.
It shouldn't be snowing at all.

Goodbye tree

Up until yesterday, our house had a big beautiful tree growing right in the middle of our front yard.We all loved that tree, but we did not love its location. It was right on top of our sewer line, and we've had ongoing troubles with roots in the pipes. We tried and tried to delay the inevitable, but recently we made the sad decision that the tree had to go.I had thought that we would call a tree service, but Seth said it would be faster and cheaper to drop the tree ourselves. He'd cut down trees during his golf course days and was confident that this was something we could handle on our own.

Mostly I think he wanted an excuse to buy a chain saw!
Planning the first cut.
Poor tree...
One down.
Thinking.
Cutting.
Carrying.
More thinking.
Ryan helped, too.
"You know, Mama, this little handsaw is ok, but next time I want to use the chain saw."
The last part was the hardest.
Look at that placement--no kids, cars or houses were injured!
This is the tree now.
Ok, some of it is still in the front yard.
Ryan and James in front of the big pile of branches.
Our house without the tree.
