Can we keep him?

I have only the vaguest memories of when we got Jock. I remember Colleen calling me to the front door. She said "Come see this man's cute dog". Since he's in the house, I would guess this picture was taken that day or very shortly thereafter. The date on it is February 1973.
This is Jock and I in July 1973. I guess this is where James gets it from...

baby Jennifer

I just received a small envelope full of really old pictures--thank you Mom! It's 21 degrees and snowing outside so it's a perfect day to stay home and scan photographs.

I am three weeks old in this picture. Colleen is four. She does not look excited to have a baby sister. Probably she was still disappointed that I was not a boy.
This picture was taken a month later in March 1969. Yay! Colleen is smiling. Maybe she's forgiven for being a girl. Or maybe she just likes my soft baby ears...

At the dog park

There are two dog parks near our house. The boys prefer the one that is part of Cherry Creek State Park because it has water to wade in and trees to climb. These pictures are from a trip to the dog park in fall 2007. Maggie is all smiles when she's out and about.James and Abbie are ready for adventures.Maggie looks on...while the boys search for adventure.
It takes a lot of concentrationto climb a tree in sandals!

Maggie's trick

It's not just Abbie who knows how to do tricks. After three years of intensive training, Maggie will now pose with her front paws on a stool. Here James helps her into position.Yay! Success! Maggie is on the stool! And Seth calls her a burger flipper.... Sheesh! Some people!

Dog show

In 1995, Abbie and I spent the Fourth of July holiday at our friend Julia's house in Pelham, TN. One of Julia's sisters was also visiting that week. There was a fun dog show in nearby Sewanee that day, and Julia sent Chris, Abbie and I there to represent Wonder Cave.

I entered Abbie in two classes. The first was the best trick class.
Abbie wowed the audience with her amazing ability to shake hands,
beg,and roll over.
She was clearly the best dog there. The judges all agreed.
We look like an advertisement for Meaty Bone dog biscuits!I can't remember the name of Abbie's second class. All the dogs went in the ring at the same time.
Abbie did not like that and had to duck out early.Oh well, she was still the best dog in the show.
Julia was there to greet us upon our triumphant return to Wonder Cave.
Hugs and kisses for the Wonder Dog of Wonder Cave!

Visiting the jgb's

Jonas Gray Buxton is Ryan and James' oldest cousin. He was born in November 1996. These pictures were taken in either late 1996 or 1997.I have no memory of this trip and I think it's because I wasn't there. I'm not in any of the pictures and I vaguely remember lending Seth my car and my camera so he could meet his brand new nephew in St Louis.
Nana certainly seems to be enjoying her first grandbaby!
The cat is probably wondering why no one is paying attention to her.
A nice father and son picture.
A funny father and son picture.
Jonas meets the man he will forever refer to as Crazy Uncle Seth. He's already looking worried!
