Frisco
Earlier this month, Seth and I celebrated our eighteenth anniversary.
We marked the occasion with a weekend trip to the mountain town of Frisco, Colorado.
We watched the sun set over the Dillon Reservoir on Friday...and Saturday we hiked to Rainbow Lake.
This was supposed to be a three mile loop, but we missed a turn and ended up going a little further. This was fine with us because the weather and scenery were both beautiful.
This is Rainbow Lake.
This is a popular hiking trail, so we shared the trail with lots of people and a few dogs.
On the way back...
we were joined by this dog and her owners.
She seemed very concerned when we parted ways. Maybe she knew we were taking the wrong trail!
Beautiful views.
Tall trees. Millions of pine cones!
Later that day, the weather went from this...
to this in the space of a couple hours. It snowed on us most of the way home, too!

Proud as a peacock
The Denver Zoo is home to a large number of free roaming peacocks. I don't usually pay them much attention, but this boy was impossible to ignore.

Field trip to the Denver Zoo
Today I chaperoned a seventh grade field trip to the Denver Zoo.
My group was made up of three boys and three girls. Each kid was supposed to choose an animal for us to see. Pedro picked the crocodile,
Kyle selected the tiger...
and James opted for the kangaroos.
Kangaroo viewing face.
One of the girls chose wolves, but sadly their exhibit was closed. The other two girls didn't pick animals, so we just walked around and looked at whatever we could find. This included emus,
grizzly bears,
lions,
penguins,
gibbons,
and polar bears.
I took a lot of the photos I always take...but I also tried to be a little more creative.
Lion paw.
Elephant!
This was a fun field trip.
I give it two thumbs up!
