Minivacation

Back in June, James asked me where we were going for our summer vacation.  I laughed and asked him, "Do you remember St. Louis?"

"Oh yeah," he said.  "I still want to go somewhere else."

James isn't the only one.  Even though we are short on funds and vacation days, we all wanted to go somewhere else...

So last Friday we got in the car, drove an hour south and checked into our favorite luxury resort.
Ha!  It may not seem luxurious to you, but Motel 6 offers all the essential amenities--a pool,
not one...
but two comfortable beds,
a big flat screen tv with Cartoon Network,
and a little mountain view.
Most importantly, it provided us with easy access to all sorts of wonderful attractions.  In less than forty eight hours, we ate a chuckwagon dinner at the Flying W Ranch
crossed paths with a great big black bear,
fed giraffes at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
walked the streets (and bridges) of Manitou Springs
and visited the Ghost Town Museum.
It was a wonderful and busy two days, and we've already started planning our next minivacation!
