Clydesdale dog

With more than fifteen thousand pageviews, "Poodle Horses" is far and away the most popular blog post I've ever written.
Although I've never personally dressed a horse like a dog, I was once part-owner of a dog that was clipped to resemble a Clydesdale!
Awwwwww, look how cute Jock was!

Piggies and ponies

Carol and Nate liked our piggie pictures so today we all went to Big Iron Ranch for a piggie and pony visit.
We took lots of photos...
because it's impossible...
to have too many...
piggie pictures!
Trillium is not a piggie, but she's just as cute.
Her pasture-mate Samson is also cute...
in a really big, overly friendly sort of way.
Poor pouting Samson.  Why won't anyone pet him?
Four of my favorite people with two of my favorite horses.

Carson & Barnes petting zoo

I am so glad my children haven't outgrown petting zoos.
Without exception, James can be counted on to fall passionately in love with one of the animals.  This time it was a goat.
"They're so cute, Mama."
"Can we have one?"
I have to admit, the goats are cute, but this crabby little donkey was even cuter.
Love this picture!
At least one of them looks happy...
My turn with the Eeyore.
Of course it wasn't just goats and donkeys.  There were all sorts of other critters to pet...
and to view from afar.  This is Katy, the pygmy hippo...
and this is a zedonk!
I would have happily bought two or three circus coupons to pet the zedonk, but sadly, that was not an option.  Instead I had to be content with taking dozens of bad pictures of him.  Oh well!

Post riding Noodles

Ryan and James accompanied me to Big Iron Ranch today.  They each got to ride Trillium, and it would have been a perfect morning except for one thing.  It was sooooooo windy!
Two hours in the gale force wind resulted in three very cold Buxtons.  Fortunately, we know how to get warm.
(We also know how to get silly.)
Everyone ordered their favorite Noodles dish.  That's Wisconsin Mac N Cheese for James,
Buttered Noodles with extra seasonings for Ryan,
and Pasta Fresca for Mama.  Nom nom nom!

Chloe of the Flying W

The Flying W claims to be a working cattle ranch, but you couldn't prove it by walking around the Western Village.  There were no signs of cows or horses.  In fact, the only animal on the premises was a little grey donkey named Chloe.
Of course we all had to pet her.
After all, we're partial to girls named Chloe!
Two cuties!
I could have hung out with Chloe all day, but she had other matters to attend to.  What a civilized donkey!

Ryan and the Cookie Monsters

This is what happens when you wander into Fran's gelding pasture with a pocket full of horse cookies. Ryan tries to convince them to back off...
They're not convinced!

Blue Hill wrap up

Just a few more pictures from my 1994 trip to Unionville, Pennsylvania...
There really isn't a lot to do in Unionville, but Trish made sure I saw all the local attractions.
I bet you're jealous that you haven't seen all these amazing sites!
It was fun though, and every drive involved passing through scenery like this...and this. Beautiful!
