Cheyenne Mountain giraffes

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is proud of their giraffes.
Every morning the giraffes are released into the African Rift Valley exhibit.  This exhibit features many raised platforms and walkways where zoo visitors gather for a close up view of the giraffes.
We were there waiting when the giraffes came out.  At first the boys were a little tentative...
but it wasn't long before kids (and giraffes!) were all smiles.
The giraffes have long black tongues.
Make that,  really long black tongues.  According to the Giraffe Facts sign, those tongues range from eighteen to twenty four inches in length.
James does not have tongue issues.  In fact, I caught him asking several giraffes to give him a kiss "right here."  Three of them obliged!
Giraffe love!
