Castlewood Canyon

The only thing standing between Carol and a college degree is one geology class. Today she and I went on a self guided field trip to Castlewood Canyon State Park in Franktown, Colorado.
We stopped at a Starbucks on our way to buy today's newspaper.
This was necessary to prove the photos were current and not leftover from some long ago family outing.
Here's Carol with her newspaper at the Bridge Canyon Overlook.
There's the bridge...
and there's the canyon!
Next we headed to the Lake Gulch trail for a short (about two mile) hike.
This trail provided great views of Pike's Peak...
and the valley below us.
Carol wasn't supposed to be looking at the views, however.
She was there for the rocks.
And...
there were lots of rocks!
We followed the trail down to the creek...
where we found...
lots...
and lots...
and lots...
of rocks!
I am not a geologist...
but this was a good way to spend a day!

The pictures alone should be worth an "A". Thanks for joining me on my procrastination field trip!
